One Match Determining Pochettino’s Fate at Chelsea

Chelsea will reportedly postpone making a decision regarding Mauricio Pochettino’s future as club manager until the end of the season. The 51-year-old Argentinian coach is facing increasing pressure due to disappointing results this season. He only won two wins in his team’s last six matches in all competitions. During those results, the Blues also suffered back-to-back defeats against Liverpool and Wolverhampton Wanderers, conceding four goals in each game.

Chelsea is still stuck in 10th place in the Premier League standings so far. That is the Blues’ highest ranking this season, under Mauricio Pochettino. Chelsea has been starting from zero since last year, when Todd Boehly became the new owner to replace Roman Abramovich. A major squad overhaul was carried out, many young players, and managers have changed four times.

Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino is not overly worried with striker Nicolas Jackson’s potential suspension due to yellow card accumulation ahead of the Manchester City clash on Saturday (February 17).

The young striker didn’t score in the Blues’ last league outing – a 3-1 win at Crystal Palace on Monday. But he collected a ninth yellow card of the season for running off the bench to celebrate his team’s third goal 15 minutes after coming off. Another yellow card will lead to an automatic two-game suspension.

Interestingly, only one of Jackson’s nine bookings this season have been due to a foul. He has received four yellows for dissent, two for arguing with the referee, one for not retreating and now another for entering the field of play (as per The Sun).
